I have been invited to speak at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs on November 1 about my experience building an international career in the private sector.  The event is part of a series highlighting the work of recent alumni in a variety of fields.  I will focus specifically on my experience as Director of Global Operations are DRI International.

Founded in 1988, DRI International is a non-profit organization with a mission to make the world prepared. The global education and certification body in business continuity, DRI has 11,000+ active certified professionals worldwide. DRI certification ensures employers that candidates understand business continuity. DRI organizes industry events worldwide and offers training programs and partnerships with colleges and universities. DRI certifies individuals from 100+ countries and conducts training in 50+ nations, in multiple languages. An ANSI-certified standards development organization, DRI advises governments and organizations in creating standards and works with the private sector to promote readiness.

My job is to design the international market development strategy for global clients including Fortune 500 companies and government bodies. I manage the international operation in New York and direct, promote, manage, and expand DRI’s global licensee network currently operating in 50+ countries on 6 continents.  Designing a career in almost any field is difficult in this economic climate.  The international sector presents a unique array of challenges.

I am honored to be joined by Jason Wetzel, a fellow recent graduate of NYU’s MSGA program who is a U.S. Associate at Credit Agricole. You can read more about the event on the Society of International Business and Development’s blog.
