🔍🤩🔎 Reflections on an insightful roundtable on Leveraging Data-Driven Insights to Drive Innovation in the Digital Economy with Google Principal Analytical Lead Victoria Lai. Grateful for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on big data, consumer behavior, and online experiences. As part of our ongoing roundtable series at the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs, this off-the-record conversation provided a unique opportunity for students, faculty and professionals to gain firsthand insights from an experienced leader in digital marketing strategies.
A seasoned expert at the intersection of data analytics, technology, and global business strategy, Victoria brought her a unique perspective on leveraging data-driven insights to drive innovation and navigate complex challenges in today’s digital economy.
🔏 GDPR and CCPA have been effective in changing the way brands and consumers engage online although it is a balance act to ensure effective tracking and useful targeting while ensuring user data protection.
💻 Generative AI is changing the consumer experience online rapidly, but we are seeing the limits posed by the quality of the data — the old adage of garbage in, garbage out still applies. How can companies design effective strategies to ensure the quality of their data and design systems for success from the beginning during this shift?
🇨🇳 We had a robust conversation about how data is redefining decision-making in an increasingly interconnected world and whether that would change in a fracturing world if more countries follow the Chinese firewalled model. Vicky’s background as a China economist deepened the conversation.
🎓 Students should not wait for the perfect role, but just get started in the general direction as so much about our careers are on the precipice of change. Everything will evolve and knowing how to tell your story to advocate for yourself is helpful. Side projects can be an effective way to build skills and contacts that can support career growth and propel you in a new direction.
This was another installment of my ongoing intimate roundtable series, Navigating Global Challenges. Looking forward to continuing these important conversations on the future of finance, tech, business and economy!
Thanks to my fellow colleagues and our engaging students for supporting and attending.
